As if versus as though

Hi.

Is there any difference between as if and as though?

Any explanations with examples are highly appreciated

Thanks

All the dictionaries call them synonymous. No doubt there is somewhere that one fits and the other doesn't, though I can't think of any.

No difference.

They look as if/though they know each other. (perhaps they do know each other)

Thank you very much Mister Micawber.

Thank you very much Ivanhr.

So we use past tense to show that sth is imaginary or unlikely.

She talks as if she knows where he is( most pobably she knows his whereabout)

She talks as if she knew where he is(most pobably she doesn't know his whereabout)

Am I right?

Thanks
