it is correct to say
i walked as if I were quai chang, or as if I was Quai????

JeffreyB24 it is correct to say i walked as if I were quai chang, or as if I was Quai???? I would use 'were', but you'll find that after "as if" just about any tense can be used, so 'was' is also possible. CJ

I would use 'were', but you'll find that after "as if" just about any tense can be used, so 'was' is also possible.

I'm not sure what 'quai chang' is, but I would use "were." This is subjunctive mood, sometimes also considered the "unreal tense," which is often used after statements of "if" or "wish."
