Eg.  parent/friend:  Don't forget you are supposed to be (somewhere) by 9.00am.
      You:  'As if!'

Hi,

It's a more general expression of scepticism than that, expressing doubt that something is true or that something will happen.

eg

A: One day, I will be President of the USA.

B: As if!

eg

A: The USA is going to ban gun ownership completely.

B: As if!

eg

A: Mary said she loves Tom.

B: As if!

Hi,

Which word do you accent, 'as' or 'if'?
How do you pronounce them?

Hi,

I don't stress each word very differently, but I think I make the 'as' sound a little longer than the 'if' sound.
