As If

Are these both correct?

1. We wouldn't want you running around acting as if radio waves are real. (With 'are' I'm saying the radio waves are real??

2. We wouldn't want you running around acting as if radio waves were real. (With 'were' I'm saying the radio waves are not real?)

Thanks.

Hello Jack In both sentences, the radio waves are presented as "not real". #1 would sound ungrammatical to some native speakers; but #2 would always sound correct. MrP
