I have made up Example 1 below.
(1) Suppose that John is showing me how to build computers from scratch. Even though he has experience, it takes him 20 minutes to complete one on average. After completing one, he asks me, "I just taught you how to build a computer from scratch. Do you think it was easy?" I reply, "It was easy when I watched you do it. I am sure as I go through it myself, I will have a lot of trouble because it involves too many steps."
Most of my non-native English speaking friends think it is wrong to say "as I go through it myself".
Why is it wrong? Please help me. Thanks
Your friends are wrong. It is perfectly natural.
