Vocabulary

"...as I go along"

'I adapt to the plan as I go along.'

Does this sentence sound natural? I am a bit unsure if 'go along' is the correct phrase here. The context is that I make changes to the plan when the need arises.

Thank you

The use of the expression is quite natural here, but there's a logical conflict with your described intention. There are two scenarios here: (1) You yourself change your (routine) to fit the plan, as you find it necessary. (2) You change the plan to fit the conditions.

(2) You change the plan to fit the conditions.

The first is intransitive - your actual sentence, "I adapt [myself] to the plan etc."

Oh. I had the second scenario in my mind.

I should have said 'I adapt the plan as I go along', right? Just wondering. How do '...when the need arises' and 'as I go along' compare?

Thanks again

Right.

"As I go along" and "when / as the need arises" are interchangeable here.
