As fortunate in her assistant ...

Hello

A teacher found in her classroom a piece of paper with some information about abusing children. She decided to show it to a teacher who taught small kids.

After a moment’s thought Miss Mayfield lifted the paper rather gingerly, using only a finger and thumb, as though it were in someway contaminated, and carried it into the Junior room, where Miss Benson held sway. A little – and this she herself admitted – a little deterred at first by the Froebel teacher’s brisk, airy, cynical manner, Miss Mayfield had, in the last week, realized that she was as fortunate in her assistant as the children were in their canteen arrangements.

Does it mean that Miss Mayfield was lucky to be Miss Benson assistant? And she had as much luck being her assistant as the children were in their canteen arrangements. (I suppose that canteen arrangements refer to the duties the children had in canteen)?

Hi

Froebel-trained teacher is a teacher trained in the Froebel system of education.

It's probable that Miss B is Miss M assistant. I think it makes sense.

Thanks

Yes. I was asking if Miss B was the Froebel teacher.
