Hi

Would you say that this is a natural sentence?

(In story writing)

There was no one to be seen as far as the eye could be trusted.

I would put a comma after "seen". The only other thing I would say is that there is an expression "as far as the eye can see" in which "far" refers to literal (physical) distance. For me, this somewhat intrudes, and I have to readjust when I get to the end of your sentence and realise that it is a different kind of "as far as".
