As fall comes to a close, bears head into caves to hibernate, and birds fly south to escape the cold.

... an end, ... for ... avoid/hide from ...

Do the above two verions mean exactly the same? Thanks.

Angliholic Do the above two verions mean exactly the same? a close/an end - the same into/for - not quite the same: into = suggests reaching the cave and entering for = suggests going in the direction of a cave, but haven't reached it yet avoid/hide from - similar Escape suggests they have already been exposed to the cold Avoid suggests they don't experience any of the cold
