Is correct the the use of as expected on this sentence:

I think you intend to use the expression "larger than expected."
"As large as expected" would mean the concentration was exactly as expected.

We observe a larger concentration of particles before the surface than expected.
We observe that the concentration of particles before the surface is larger than expected.

thank you, but I want to say that the concentration is exactly the expected concentration value, i.e., the expected value is: concentration before the surface larger than after the surface.
Maybe to be clear I have to remove the word larger?
