Grammar

as common to say something as saying something else

Hello,

Are these four sentences below grammatically correct? If so, which one is most common? Would you let me know?

1. Is it as common to say A as saying B?

2. Is it as common to say A as to say B?

3. Is it as common saying A as saying B?

4. Is it as common saying A as to say B?

Thank you all in advacne. =)

Only #4 is unnatural. #1 is frowned on by many grammarians, but occurs often enough. #2 and #3 are nicely parallel, but #2 is the expected.

  • On second thought, #3 doesn't sound so good either.

Personally, I use only the second one.
