Grammar

As bosses can

1 He went off the handle, as bosses can.
2 He went off the handle as bosses can.

I think '1' means:
He went off the handle. Bosses can go off the handle.

and '2' means
He went off the handle in the way bosses can go off the handle.

Is that correct?

Gratefully

The standard expression is 'fly off the handle'. I've never heard 'go off the handle'.

Good point! Perhaps a portmanteau of 'fly off the handle' and 'go off the edge'?...or something...
