"as being safer"

Could you please say, is the following sentence correct?

"As being safer, helium replaced hydrogen as a power source for dirigibles."

Thanks in advance.

The sentence is incorrect. Being in a clause equivalent is nearly always causal and a causal conjunction (because, as, since) should not be used with being in such structures. Being safer, helium replaced hydrogen as a power source for dirigibles.

Hello Cool Breeze,

Thanks for your comments. Will it be grammatically correct to replace

"Being safer" in the sentense you provided with the phrase "As a safer

(type of) fuel":

"As a safer (type of) fuel, helium replaced hydrogen..."

Thanks in advance.
