As and would in the sentence

The extra talented guy was really happy that he became famous through internet as people would visit him and say I had watched you in internet.
How does 'as' and 'would' work in the sentence? Does 'as' mean to show reason? Does 'would' mean past of will? Please explain. I didn't understand the use of as and would in the sentence.

Top answer

It's a poorly written sentence, but yes, "as" indicates reason, and "would" suggests that something happened repeatedly in the past.
