Tuesday it snowed 12 inches. Then Wednesday it snowed half again as much [6 inches].

Huh. Philip, my understanding is the same as Clive's. If it snowed 12 inches, and you said "it snowed half again as much" the next day, I'd think 18 inches. For 6 inches, I'd say "It snowed half that amount."
