As A result of

The train was delayed because of the rain .

The train was delayed as a result of the rain

The train was delayed by the rain.

I understand first sentence is better, but I dont really understand how to eliminate last two sentences, since i dont see any grammatical errors...Can someone clarify when to use as a result of ?

Why do you want to eliminate them? These are three different ways of saying basically the same thing.
