Grammar

as a guide

Is this making any sense?
Is guide the usual word? How would you say the sentence? Which of the 2 would you have said, compared or in relation?

Put your finger next to the object in the picture to use as a guide to let people know how big the object is compared to in relation to something such as your finger.

Thanks
