Hi,

is there any difference in saying:

Hello Drica, With "as a friend", it's a little more distant: you only imply that you want to be among the addressee's friends. With "as your friend", on the other hand, it's quite personal: it almost implies that you want to be the addressee's special friend. ) MrP

Hello Drica,

With "as a friend", it's a little more distant: you only imply that you want to be among the addressee's friends.

With "as your friend", on the other hand, it's quite personal: it almost implies that you want to be the addressee's special friend.

(So "as your friend" might make people uncomfortable.)

Hello Drica,

To me, "as your friend" implies more personal pressure than "as a friend". Thus suppose Lysette says to Lydia:

1. As a friend, I think I ought to tell you that your CV is very badly written.
