I'm not sure if evil takes you, or overtakes you, or if evil takes over your soul... none of these sound quite natural.

I'm not sure what you meant by "forayed."

I mean the word foray is attack. When I looked at the dictionary, the word foray is noun only. I misused it as verb.

I mean the evil overtook them so they attacked the hotel without reason.
