Articles

Non-native speaker who is otherwise very fluent in English. One thing has been bothering me all these years - my native tongue does not have articles ("a", "the") hence I am not sure sometimes when to apply and when not to apply an article.

I know the difference between "a" and "the" - that part is easy. What is not so easy sometimes is when the article should/ should not be applied.

Any easy/ quick way to determine?

Thank you.

Anonymous Any easy/ quick way to determine? I'm afraid not. Some of the 'rules' you encounter sometimes make it appear as if the system is moderately straightforward.
