Hello,

Could you tell me please if my corrections are right?

1.The soup is in a/the big saucepan on the/a gas-cooker.(I used 'the' as it's a specific gas-cooker. Can I use 'a' as it is mentioned for the fist time?)

2.Where is the vase?

The vase is on a/the little table near a/the window.

4.There is a/the big sofa in a/the room and a/the little lamp on the/a wall over the/a sofa.

5.There are many children in the yard. They are playing with a/the ball.

6.The cutlets are in the/a fridge on a/the little plate.(It's a specific plate, but still I think that 'a' is correct, am I right?)

7.My sister has many books the books are in the/a big bookcase.

8.There is a/the piano in the/a hall.

9.Do you see a/the little girl with a/the big ball in her hands.

Most teachers say that while choosing an article we always need the whole context, but what if there is no context and there are only short sentences like these ones that are from an exercise?

Thanks
