Articles

I've read that articles are only adjectives but what about in "He is the least understood."

"He" is the subject
"Understood" is an adjective describing "he"
"Least" in an adverb describing "understood"
Wouldn't that mean "the" is an adverb describing "least" or did I make a mistake?
