Aiming at increasing recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteering, the Student Voluntary Service provides a unique opportunity to highlight the ailing community and also to devote time to serving others, and to encourage more students to engage in volunteer activity. Voluntary action is often found as a useful tool for developing civil society.
Social Development requires active participation of students from all schools in our society to engage in dialogue. Volunteers with different capabilities and viewpoints can create dynamics for development and their common willingness to contribute to the well being of the society facilitates social integration.
The Student Volunteer Program, joined by around 70 students of different schools. In addition, the regular session of Student Volunteer Program is also an opportunity for students who are interested in learning how to handle patients and to strengthen the existing relation with patients who are unease due to their social backgrounds. This program has two major goals: First, to raise awareness of the importance of the crucial organ, kidney, as well as towards the role of volunteerism and their contributions in the society development. Second, to strengthen networks between the ailing community and Student Voluntary Service.
Approximately, 70 students are trained in this session. The whole training session, comprises of 30 hours, in which volunteers visits different wards in the hospital.
They start the day at 09:00 a.m. with a lecture followed by our doctors by visits to different wards. They then come for ½ hour break to refresh them and then again continue their visits to the wards. If it is a full day session with us. They end up their day with us by having a debriefing of what they observed and volunteered during their stay with us.
The main focus of introducing this voluntary program is to create awareness among our young brains and to develop a sense of contributing their time and efforts to help the society.
On this occasion, when voluntary students were pleased after the completion of the training session, most of them had also a perspective of understanding life very closely.
