Hi. Please help. Which is correct? Let's say (assume) the number 1 sentence is a sentence from a narrative.

1. On (a?) Saturday night, he received a call from his girlfriend.

2. He received a (the?) command/order to send the backup.

Nothing grammatically wrong with either way (it depends on what you are trying to say). However, in a story, I would expect the sentences to be written thus: 1. On Saturday night, he received a call from his girlfriend.
