MARINERS’ ELITE HOLDS ITS FIRST SCHOOL DEBATE

After the tough times of preparation facing conflicts which tested their organization, Mariners’ Elite with the Leadership of its President Kevin Centeno in cooperation with his fellow officers and the support of their dynamic and effective adviser Madam Editha Arana, they successfully implemented their first Modified Oxford- Oregon Debate held last March 3, 2011 at the AVR, Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation Main Campus.
With the theme, “Resolved, Bicol will be an Autonomous Region”, the Mariners’ Elite successfully implemented this first school debate spearheading the development of the participants’ skills and abilities and at the same time to hear the opinion of the students, and argue in this timely issue that affects the life and welfare of every Bicolano.
The said activity was participated by different 2nd Year and 3rd Year Dean’s Lister and also different representatives from MPCF- LC accredited organizations.
It was an astonishing and breath-taking debate in which the speakers tackled their arguments very well. That bout was full of emotions; you can see the passion in their eyes that flames and courage to defend their side through the help of the facts and stats that complements their statements.
After the intense-pace Debate, the selected Board of Judges criticized the participants for them to improve their debating abilities. Then they officially announced the winners in this competition.
After the breath-taking and suspenseful debate held, Midn. Romerson Gadil, the Representative of the Mariners’ Propellers Society, showed his brilliance and outshined being announced as the BEST SPEAKER of the said Debate. While Midn. Reynald Altiche, the Representative of Corps of Midshipmen COM, snitched the BEST DEBATER award after his volcanic outbursts like performance.
The Team Affirmative led and erected a victory, giving their opponent an agonizing defeat.
