Ex. I am not influenced by the opinions of others.

Q. Why do we need the article in front of opinions (even when we are talking about "any opinion in general"?

Is it okay to not have it?

We are not talking about any opinion in general. We are talking about those opinions that are expressed by others.

Even though "of others" seems general, it still makes the opinions we are talking about specific enough to need an article.

So even if it's any opinion (random comments) made by others (random people), we still need the article because it is an opinion made by someone?

Perhaps think about it being grammatically specific rather than semantically specific.

How is it different from the following?:

Ex.

Employees of the company managed to file a lawsuit.

I figured the same logic could be applied.
