hi

i always have problem with article 'the'. i want to know if i can write e.g. 'in city' or' in the city' if i mean generic noun.

would you tell me more about this article, please?

Normally, it's "in the/a city". I can't think of a situation where "in city" would work (except in newspaper headlines and such). Also it's "I have a problem" not just "I have problem".
