Hi all.

Do we need an article for the sentence below? (after as)

In his position as managing director, he is responsible for more than 300 employees.

or 

In his position as a/the managing director, he is responsible for more than 300 employees.

No, not really, though you can put one there. We don't usually use an article before nouns that indicate a role.
