I received the following joke in an email. I am not sure about the use of articles by the author before the word ‘hippo racing’.

Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in ?

A: Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in .

Why did the author use a ‘the’ before ‘hippo racing’ in the answer?

Thanks,

MG.
