(article + possesive noun) + noun

Hello,

Could you please say, is it common in English to modify a noun

that indicates possession with an article?

"to broaden [a person]'s horizons"

"the car that is [the boss]'s"

"[a sheik]'s wife should always be kept out of sight"

Thanks in advance.
