Article or not and which one?

Hi. Please tell me if there should be the definite article before the words/phrass "IPA symbols" in the following sentences. Let's say that the number 1 sentence is given as some sort of advice.

1. You should study (the?) IPA symbols.
2. I think it would be good if they studied (the?) IPA symbols.

As to the following sentence, I think the indefinite article before the phrase "'naughty and nice' list" is correct since there can be many other "naughty and nice" lists other than what Santa has. Thank you for your help in advance.

Santa has a "naughty and nice" list.

In these examples you can include 'the' or you can omit 'the'. It doesn't matter. The use of 'the' makes the statement sound more inclusive of ALL IPA symbols.

Hi. Please help. Would you say the definite articles are needed for the following two Bible verses? Please see the underlined articles before the word "truth" and "law." They are from the New International Version. I believe my question deals with grammar. Thank you in advance.

1 Corinthians 13:6

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

No. They are cases where both versions (with and without 'the') are acceptable.
