Article or no article

Some companies choose to end their fiscal yearon the same day of the week, such day being the one closest to a particulardate (for example, the Friday closest to December 31).

It's probably just a typo. It should be "such a day". The rule is "use the indefinite article when such precedes singular, countable nouns while no article is needed when such is followed by plural or uncountable nouns".
