Article for borrowing capacity

Hi,

Which one of the following sentences is better and why?

1. There is a borrowing capacity of $5000 on his credit line.

2. There is borrowing capacity of $5000 on his credit line.

Thanks,

MG.

In my opinion, one is as good as the other. Prior context might favor the countable usage, if for instance other capacities are mentioned.

Hi guys,

I agree that both can be said. However, I don't find either very natural.

I suggest 'He has a maximum of $5,000 available via/on his line of credit'.

I agree.

I'd probably just say "He has $5,000 available on his credit line."
(You might say "maximum" and "available" set up a redundancy.)
