Article before "book"

Hi..

A question about articles. If I see someone throw an item (book) at another person. I say:

"Why did you throw a book at him?"

"Why did you throw the book at him?"

Am I correct to say that I can use either? My intrepretation:

1. "A book" - doesn't matter which book, it's the act that shocks me

2. "The book" - that book (that I can see from here).

Correct?
