Grateful if someone would tell me why sentense 1 is not "the harassment of women" while sentense 2 uses "the" for "pursuit of happiness".

1. "The worst social problems are alchohol addiction, bullying among students, harassment of women, and the aging of society."

2. "An American likes to feel good about him or herself, and "the pursuit of happiness" is one of the rights guaranteed by the US Constitution."

Thank you!

Thank you for your response.

Are there any reasons why "the" was ommitted? Any differences between "Violations of human rights" and "The violations of human rights"?

Many thanks again!
