Hi, Can you help me ?

I want to write to my friend about my holiday. I´m staying at a hotel.

My sentences : The tennis courts are closed. The food is awful. The beach is far. (Do I need to use article- the -at the beginning of the sentences).

We'd say 'The beach is a long way away.'

I would just like to add that if you are writing on something where space is limited (like a postcard), you could conceivably remove the article by recasting in a more compact way.
