Article

1) Many country forbid the fishing of endangered creatures.
2) Many country forbid fishing of endangered creatures.

In this sentence, is the essential? Or the two sentences are both acceptable?
If both are o.k, I wonder why.

As far as I know, if a noun is modified by a of phrase the noun should have the.
Am I wrong? Would you explain in more detail please?

Not if it is a noncount concept. I admit that the article is more common, but its omission sounds fine to me, too. Perhaps less formal?

So, in this case, unless it's a countable noun, the article is optional.

That's how I read it. (I am aware of the article-plus-'of' rule, however.)
