I am wondering whether both forms are okay: It was floating across (the) remote seas. - with and without (the). I am assuming in this case, it sounds good with or without the article.
2) a question on tense: when it appeared that the baby would fall, he went forward. Is this right in past narrative, taking 'would' to mean 'was going to'?
