Hi

1. He threw a dinner at the beautiful restaurant.

2. I had dinner 2 hours ago.

--- Why in the 1st case do we use an article before the word "dinner" and in the 2nd we don't? Or maybe it would be correct to say: "I had a dinner 2 hours ago".

Or maybe it would be correct to say: "I had a dinner 2 hours ago".

You can certainly use 'a'. But 'I had dinner' is an idiomatic and generalized expression, rathe
