"The" is fine. However, you do not need to repeat the fact that the rod is above the window: I would phrase this as: The long curtain hangs from a rod above the top of the window.

Thanks Feebs!
Well i want to start with the window as i was discussing it in previous sentences. Can I rearranged it like:
Above the top of the window, a long rod holds [hangs i have been used in other sentence] the lengthy curtain.
Is that will be ok ?
Thanks !
