On sundays he makes pizza. Sometime he fries chicken or fixes Chinese food. My mother watches and helps. She cuts the vegetables. She tosses the salad.

Please explain why there is no article before pizza and chicken, as both noun are common sigular and general. Please expalain,

Sometimes he fries chicken (Chicken is general. You can say, "Sometimes he fries a chicken" if he is cooking a whole chicken that has been cut into pieces. ) or fixes Chinese food.

My mother watches and helps. (Now you are talking about what mother is doing while you are preparing a particular meal.) She cuts the vegetables ("The vegetables" and "the salad" refer to some specific vegetables and salad that you are going to eat with that meal ). She tosses the salad.

"Pizza", "chicken", and "Chinese food" are all uncountable nouns in this sentence. We don't use indefinite articles with uncountable nouns in English. Another way to think about this is by pretending there is the word "some" before these nouns. For example:
