my problem is exactly with (i) and (ii) sections.

i) Does "moral improvement through a sense of the ineffable" mean "to improve the morality of the society by means of undefinable and incomprehensible concepts (other worldly notions like gods, spirits, etc)"?

ii) Does "political acquiescence to those in charge" mean "to politically obey those in charge"?
