Art or an art?

Hi. Please tell me what the difference between the two: "Language is art" and "Language is an art." I think both are correct with different meaning.

I see no real difference: 'art' is simply used as the uncountable concept in the first sentence and as a countable subdivision of the concept (visual art, dramatic art, etc) in the second sentence.
