ART AND CULTURE IELTS TASK 2.

Please help me improve my writing skills. Many thanks for your comment below this post!

Some people think the government funding should not be used for supporting art and culture, others think supporting cultural activities may be beneficial for the population and the culture. Discuss both view and give your opinion.

Contentious debate over the past few years have resolved that whether the fine arts should be subsidized by the public funds. While some people nurture the belief that art and culture should not be publicly funded, I firmly believe that government expenditure should be allocated to these sectors for some reasons.

To begin with, opponents to governmental funding to art and culture could provide some accepted justifications. First, poor people would by no means show keen interest in aesthetic fields. Second, common social problems like poverty, wealth gap and environmental issues are generally major troubles that need to tackle first. Hence, priority to solve each matter should be properly identified. Finally, the number of people who are able to assess artworks professionally is not quite large. Artistic professors merely account for an insignificant proportion of the population. Therefore, the idea of public funding for art and culture is reasonably considered a waste of resources.

However, reasons for publicly financially supporting the artistic and cultural activities cannot be denied. Traditionally, via artworks distinct cultural characteristics and beauty of human identity are preserved and bequeathed. For example, Cong Chieng, an ethnic beauty of Vietnam culture, are successfully passing from generations to generations and becoming tourist attraction. Moreover, art and culture managing companies also contribute to development of economic growth. To be clearer, they will attract more tourists and this will directly develop tourism. More importanly, those kinds of corporations would create more employment opportunities to alleviate unemployment. It should be acknowledged that this practice proves unquestionable advantages.

To conclude, I am convinced that artistic and cultural activities should be governmentally funded for indirectly supporting economic growth. However, because there are quite several problems that need solving, some people assume government funding should not be used for art.
