In the art world, all it takes is for one person to like your artwork, and if he gives you the chance, who knows what could happen?

Or

In the art world, all it takes is for one person to like your artwork, and if he gives you the chance, who knows what can happen?

Are both useable? WHich would a native say, and what's the better saying?

PreciousJones WHich would a native say This is one of those where many different modal verbs fit nicely. Who knows what [can / could / may / might / will] happen? My preference is for 'might', followed by 'can'.

This is one of those where many different modal verbs fit nicely.

Who knows what [can / could / may / might / will] happen?

My preference is for 'might', followed by 'can'. 'will' is next in order. 'could' is certainly possible, but not my first choice. 'may' seems a little too formal.
