Is it Ok to say plain variant of? Is the pink expression ok?Thank you

From a slightly plain variant of the Honda Civic, they have arrived at a first-rate sedan strongly separated ( differentiated ) from its rivals. 'First-rate' and 'premium class' really mean the same thing.
