Armed force//arms

John Brown was famous for being the first to support and use armed force to oppose slavery. He felt very strongly that slaves should be freed, but his willingness to use violence resulted in disaster for himself and his followers.

HI,
Is it right to view "armed force" in the above as "arms" and "willingness" as "eagerness?" Thanks.

'Arms' suggests military weapons; 'armed force' does not necessarily do so. 'Willingness' and 'eagerness' are quite different: the second possesses an enthusiasm that the first does not.
