Arise or Arises

Is it:

"I such a situation should arise..." or "If such a situation should arises..."

I am almost certain that the former is correct but I am unable to justify why it is correct over the latter besides the fact that it sounds better.

If I switch the words around a bit, then the latter form sounds correct. For example: "Should such a situation arises..."

Please help me with this. Thank you in advance!

Right. You absolutely cannot use any form of a verb other than the plain infinitive (the form listed in the dictionary) after a modal verb. (shall, should, can, could, will, would, may, might, must). should arise.
