Argumentative Essay on Smoking in all Public Places

These days, allowing people smoking in public areas has become a major problem. Studies found that people are addicted to smoking, and it’s almost impossible to isolated them for the non-smokers. From the conclusion on these studies, we should ban smoking activities in all Public Places.

The first point is, in Quebec, the laws forbid smoking in almost every area. Many years ago, Citizens voted a law that forbids smoking in public like restaurants. It was a strong message on the perception of smoking and provide help to smokers to find a solution on this bad habit. Another example is, in Quebec, smokers can only smoke if they are 5 meters away from any building. Rules are in place, but allowing smokers and non-smokers in the same is still a dilemma, and we should completely ban this product.

The second argument is smokers will have more money in their pocket. The price of smokes has increased by 40% in the last 4 years. Governments raised enormous amounts by adding taxes on cigarettes sales. The idea came when the road was in bad condition and they need to find a quick way to generate good income to fix this problem. We no longer have this problem and a survey showed that citizens would prefer to ban cigarette sales and help smokers to have a healthier life.

Thank you!
