Grammar

argument as to

I heard this during a game.
I really don't know what to think of it. Is it wrong, is it correct? "making an argument as to" I don't know about that? Anyone have any opinions?

He is making an argument as to who the best player in the league is after such a magnificent game from him.

Thank you so much
